Upon disabling it.i wasnt sure how to clear it out due to the way you can modify the values.so i just hit "load system default settings".right after that i go back into my OPsys and bammm.NO INTERNET. This all started when I went into BIOS to disable an "HD Password" that my nephew put in. This happened to my Dell Inspiron N 4110 - I-5 processor-Win 7 64 bit, 6 gb Ram, 575 GB HD. haha novice with computers here so I am still learning. Ok so you posted originally."do a dance" and plug it back in ? huh i didnt get that. If Deep Sleep Mode enabled Please Plug the Cable"*********** The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found. This isn't 100%, there are threads out there where this has been tried and still doesn't work. I think the Green Power one is probably unnecessary but not taking any chances.Īnyway, hope this helps anyone who may run into the same problem. make sure "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked Select Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Do a little f-ing dance, power back on and it works." Apparently that's what "please plug the cable" means.Īpparently these nics have a problem waking up from "deep sleep" and you need to nudge them out of it. and trying different suggestions, found a real stupid one."I found the fix: power down and unplug the PC. Standard troubleshooting.Īfter an hour of digging through forums etc. Reinstall drivers, same thing, with a great error message, "If deep sleep mode is enabled Please plug the cable." Checked BIOS, onboard LAN is enabled. Didn't show up in hardware manager, nothing. Had a problem with one of the home pcs today, came out of sleep (S3) and there was no internet. Thanks.Solved problem, thought I'd post if anyone else with a Realtek onboard nic runs into the same problem. The affected device is a Dell Inspiron 17 7737, i5 1.70Ghz, 1 TB of storage.Īny help would be greatly appreciated. The only reliable way to receive internet on the affected laptop has become a direct connection to the router via an Ethernet cable. Device Manager insists the device is working properly, so I'm at a loss as to what is going on.

I have updated the driver to the latest version from the Realtek site, disallowed the computer from shutting down the driver to conserve energy, disabled Green Ethernet/Energy Efficient Ethernet and Auto Disable Gigabit, but the problem persists.

However, the fact that it does work after a shutdown makes me think this is most likely a software issue, not a hardware one. Looking into the Event Viewer, every time there is a disconnection the message "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Is Disconnected From Network" appears in the viewer.Ī hard shutdown fixes the problem occasionally and for random amounts of time, but without fail the message will return eventually and my WiFi connection will be severed. In the past few days, the issue has become progressively more and more common. In the past two weeks or so, my Wi-Fi has been repeatedly cutting off, indicating to me that I am not connected and that no connections are available.
